Welcome to My Online Sportsbook Wagering Blog

This is my blog. Sometimes I let my friends blog on my website, but the majority of these posts are my thoughts on what I will be betting on upcoming sports games and events. I don't play at many online sportsbooks so I don't know much about them. You can view the site I trust most for my info onsportsbooksbut this blog isn't so much about them as it is about how to bet on games.

Obviously, since I am just one person it will be hard for me to cover all sports and all games, but I will try to cover the big games in all sports, as well other games that are of interest to me.

Well, all I can say is I hope you enjoy reading along with me as I journey my way through the sports wagering industry. Remember, I am not a professional and my picks and thoughts should not be taken too seriously. I do suggest, however, that you follow along a little bit to see how good I am. I imagine if make good picks you will want to follow my thoughts and posts more closely. Either way I hope you enjoy and I thank you for spending some of your time with me.

Raiders Finally Part Ways With JaMarcus Russell

Two weeks after Oakland acquired Jason Campbell from Washington to take over at quarterback, the Raiders have released former No. 1 overall pick JaMarcus Russell.

Apparently, owner Al Davis finally lost patience with the immensely talented but unproductive player he drafted first overall in 2007.

Although Russell is still young and almost certainly will catch on with another team somewhere, the 24 year old out of LSU will likely be compared to the likes of Ryan Leaf and Ki-Jana Carter.

Russell may one day be considered the biggest bust in NFL history.

In his time in Oakland, Russell was paid nearly $40 million and produced just seven wins as a starting quarterback.

The Raiders paid Russell more than $36 million through last season and they still owe him about $3 million, however the Silver and Black will save almost $6.5 million by not have him on the roster in 2010.

Daddy’s A Pimp And Mommy’s A Ho - I’m An NFL Wideout

Dallas Cowboys rookie receiver Dez Bryant has been all over the NFL headlines since the story broke that Dolphins’ general manager Jeff Ireland, in a predraft interview, asked him if his mother was a prostitute.

Ireland has apologized.

The newest wrinkle in this ridiculous story is that, apparently, Bryant told Ireland that his dad was a pimp and that is why the whole hooker thing even came up. Bryant denies this.

SI.com is reporting that the conversation went down like this;

Bryant: “My dad was a pimp.”

Ireland: “What did your mom do for a living?”

Bryant: “She worked for my dad.”

Ireland: “Your mom was a prostitute?”

Bryant: “No, she wasn’t a prostitute.”

So why are we talking about this again? Does it make it Ok to ask him if his mom is a whore, if his dad was a pimp?

I heard ESPN’s lead in to the story being something like, “There are new developments in the Dez Bryant story that could make you change your opinion.”

Really? This is a joke. How Cares!

Mega Millions Jackpot Up To $224 Million

Now that no one was able to match all six numbers to take home the $191 million jackpot in the Mega Millions Lottery drawing that was held on Tuesday night, this coming Friday’s grand prize has risen to an estimated $224 million to a single winner.

That translates to cash out option of more than $138 million to the winner.

Although no one hit the jackpot in weekend draw, Mega Millions still handed out some really nice prizes at other levels.

Over 1.2 million lucky multi-state Mega Millions winners took home more than $8.8 million in cash prizes, including thirteen players that matched five out of six numbers for an incredible $250,000 win.

The winning number were 23, 37, 41, 50, 55 and the Mega Ball number was 6.

Mega Millions is played in 38 states and the District of Columbia.

Drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday nights at 11PM Eastern Time. Drawings are held at WSB-TV in Atlanta, Georgia.

Coyotes Cinderella Season Comes To An End

Just when the Phoenix Coyotes seemed ready to write the next chapter in a storybook NHL season, the Detroit Red Wings showed everyone why they are Stanley Cup finalists, two years running.

The Wings rolled into Glendale and pounded Coyotes’ net-minder Ilya Bryzgalov with shot after shot.

Bryzgalov made 44 saves, and might have been good enough on almost any other night, but the problem in this one was that Detroit blasted 50 shot at the net.

The Red Wings won Game Seven 6-1 to advance to a Western Conference second-round matchup with top-seeded San Jose.

So the run is over for Phoenix. The Coyotes set a franchise records for victories and points in the regular season. After starting the year playing for almost no one, their crowds kept growing with every win, and by the time the season ended it was a raucously loud environment.

Ben Roethlisberger Says That He Will Change

According to reports, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisbeger says that he accepts his six-game suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

As if he has a choice in the matter.

Roethlisbeger apologized to his teammates and fans for his behavior last month in a Georgia bar, where a 20-year-old college student accused him of sexual assault.

Umm… What about the girl Ben?

I get that he was not charged with a crime, but the accounts of his actions are just despicable. These are things that were not disputed by Roethlisberger. It is just the DA deemed that it was not against the law.

At least, that’s what I got out of this whole thing.

Now Big Ben says that he will change his ways. That missing games is a wake up call. I certainly hope so.

New York Jets Looking At Linebacker Adalius Thomas

Now that the New England Patriots have released linebacker Adalius Thomas it looks like the New York Jets could be a possible destination for the former Ravens standout.

In his time in New England, the 32-year-old Thomas played in 39 regular-season games. He started 35 of those, totaling 148 tackles and 14.5 sacks.

However, Thomas thrived under Jets head coach Rex Ryan when Ryan was the Baltimore Ravens’ defensive coordinator and Thomas was his star linebacker.

Apparently, Ryan loves his versatility. And what’s not to love?

Thomas is 6-foot-2, 270 pounds, can play inside linebacker, defensive end and slide inside to defensive tackle in certain packages. His familiarity with Ryan’s defense is another attractive attribute; it would be a seamless transition.

Phillies Lock Up Howard Through 2016 Season

According to reports, Ryan Howard will remain in Philadelphia through the 2016 season after agreeing to a five-year extension worth an average of $25 million per year.

The Phillies’ 30 year old slugger has agreed to a five-year, $125 million extension that will start with the 2012 season and includes and option for the 2017 season that could bring the deal to $138 million.

The contract also includes a limited no-trade clause.

This season, Howard is hitting .275 with three homers and 16 RBIs. He has 225 career home runs in just 750 games.

In his first 658 games, Howard became the fastest player in Major League Baseball history to reach the 200 home run milestone.

Wade Lights Up The Celtics To Keep Heat Alive

During tonight’s game against the Boston Celtics, Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat was talking to his own hand. In a post game interview he said he was telling his right hand that it was “hot.”

He was right.

Playing what might have been his final game in Miami, Wade scored 46 points, 30 in the second half and the Heat beat the Boston Celtics 101-92 on Sunday in Game 4 of their Eastern Conference first-round series.

The Celtics still lead the best-of-seven 3-1, and get a chance to close it out in Boston on Tuesday night. But their worst fear came true Sunday.

Boston certainly didn’t want Wade and the Heat to gain this kind of momentum.

Maybe Tampa Bay Should Stop Running On Molina

I know that Major League Baseball managers like to put the pressure on teams as much as possible, but maybe enough is enough.

In each of the first four innings of the Blue Jays’ loss to the Rays, Toronto catcher Jose Molina threw out four Tampa Bay base-runners trying to steal second.

It was the first time a catcher has thrown out four runners since Florida’s Charles Johnson did it against Montreal in 2002. The Oakland A’s Terry Steinbach was the last to do it in the AL, way back in 1992.

Now I realize, that Tampa won the game, but when this all happened, the score was 0-0. At some point, maybe after your second runner is catch stealing, as a manager, you need to put up the stop sign.

Come on Joe Maddon. Use your head.

Celtics Inch Closer To Sweeping The Heat

Friday night in American Airlines Arena, the Boston Celtics defeated the Miami Heat 100-98 to take a 3-0 series lead.

In an extremely close one, Celtics’ forward Paul Pierce knocked down a 21-footer at the buzzer to cement the victory for Boston.

Now the Heat have to win four straight to stay alive, something no team has ever been able to do in NBA playoff history.

If that is not enough, Miami may have even bigger problems.

The Heat’s Dwyane Wade hurt his left calf after missing a 3-pointer with 14 seconds left, replays showing he landed on Celtics guard Ray Allen’s foot.

He was forced to watch the game’s final seconds from the bench.
