According to league officials, Rajon Rondo did not commit a flagrant foul against Brad Miller.

The league office has ruled that the referees made the right call when they did not give a flagrant foul to the Boston guard after he hit Chicago’s Miller in the mouth with two seconds remaining in Game 5 of the Boston Celtics-Chicago Bulls series on Tuesday night.

“The call stands,” said a league spokesman.

The NBA had the option to upgrade the foul to “flagrant” and that would have opened the door to all kinds of problems for the league.

Smells kind of fishy to me. If they would have upgraded the foul, it could have allowed Chicago to submit a protest. It also could have meant a one game suspension for Rondo.
