Amidst all the swirling controversy surrounding one of Major League Baseball’s most recognizable players, Alex Rodriguez didn’t seem fazed by any of the negative attention when hit a two-run homer in his first official at-bat of Spring Training.

Could this be exactly what the Yankees needed to get A-Rod going in 2009. We all know how good of a player Rodriguez can be and so does he. He is definitely a little cocky and very agrogant.

Now that people are really questioning his legacy, could we be in store for an offensive explosion from the Yankees slugger in 2009? With Rodriguez playing with a chip on his shoulder, maybe that’s just what the doctor ordered for New York’s offense.

Alex said it himself in his steroid press conference, “Judge me from this day forward.” If this proves to be an object of motivation for A-Rod and not necessarily a distraction, American League pitching could be in for a rough 2009 campaign.
